I was delighted to receive a welcome email from several ‘Guest relations agents’ including Alessio. In the mail they asked me to specify certain requests and needs as a titanium member. This email was just a blank statement. When I responded requesting early check in and possibly the use of some upgrade nights I got a reply that it’s all based on availability. Why ask what you can do for me if you’re not going to make any effort. Never heard from any of the distinguished ‘guest relations agents’ afterwards. We ended up booking an airport hotel to ensure we have time to rest after our flight. Our next issue was using the lounge. My wife threw a glass bottle into a trash can in the lounge and got loudly scolded in front of other guests by one of the attendants who then also demanded her room number. When I politely asked the attendant why she only asked for my wife’s room number she admitted they are trying to make sure people don’t sneak in and ‘steal’ from the lounge. We are both younger in our 20-30s which stands out in most Marriott lounges and have no doubt that’s why she was cornered. The next day I put half a bagel in the toaster and another attendant acted as if the thing was going to blow up and said they don’t allow certain types of breads in there. Before she even finished her rant the bread came out perfectly fine and she left. On the next day we were using the lounge during a quiet time and the same attendant who cornered my wife was talking loudly to another attendant and gossiping to the point two managers had to bluntly tell her to shut up. Lastly- our room was facing the street. It was totally fine during the week but on the weekend it was as if the street was in the room. The bus station right across was extremely loud with people sitting there and yelling all night long. The reason we chose Marriott hotels for our trip is to ensure we have a quiet place to rest after our long days in the city. That did not happen.

quiet comfort and efficiency - Frans met us at the curb and always pointed us in the right direction - the m club staff was wonderful…we enjoyed 2 amazing nights before leaving on a river cruise - definitely worth the money for the location and service!

The room we had was clean, comfortable and spacious. Room feels new as well. Location of the hotel is within walking distance from supermarkets, river cruises, restaurants etc. Staff at Amsterdam Marriott were warm, friendly and genuine in our interactions. The check in area has a cosy and homely vibe which feels welcoming. We had paid additional for breakfast, where we encountered a lovely lady staff Hang, who kindly took time to show us around the item offerings, and came around to check on us with a pleasant smile to see if we were comfortably settled down and ready to place our coffee/omelette orders. Only issue was the upgrading of the elevators, which caused a long wait for them, as they are often full. Had waited for more than 10 minutes to finally be able to take the lift on one occasion. Otherwise, we had enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to book again next time.
